The Late Summer Ball this Saturday

Post by Great Plum »

Is anyone here going to it?

It's for raising money for the sports tours...

I'll be there!

My son has been selected for the Cricket Tour at Easter next year but unfortunately we can't be there on Saturday night. My son will be helping though - look out for him - he's the good looking dark haired one - looks just like his mum

Hope you have a great time.

Likewise - I'm the only Old Blue in my group.

A good time had by all, I think.

The Dining Hall was pretty full, the mist descended outside, making the Quad look very picturesque, if a little spooky, and with a bit of luck plenty of money was raised. One of my friends bid on and won a signed Sussex cricket shirt - a trifling £400!

His wife looked quite alarmed as the bidding went on.

I accidentally bid on something by inadvertantly raising my glass to my lips at the wrong moment. I didn't touch another drop until the bidding was over!

And Matt, your dad did a splendid job at the bar. I've no idea how they coped with the initial scrum....

I even had a dance (just the one, mind...).

The alarm was ringing as we arrived, so we just hung around outside for a bit and took a few photos.

Apparently the ladies weren't too enamoured of their khazi (a bit decrepit, by all accounts, and not really designed for hundreds of wine-fuelled punters), but everything else was fine.

The Court Room toilet (the Ladies loo) has always been awful - I don't know why they haven't done it up...

I was singularly unimpressed with the Ladies Loo off the Court Room when we were there for DR's Memorial Service. I don't think it has been refurbished since it was originally built way back when...

You never saw the 'emergency' loo's in the Arts School quad, Katharine !

Not only did they leave a lot to be desired, they would have given 'cottaging' a bad name.
