Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Entry 2007

Post by Happy »

We've got a problem at home - daughter (aged 10) already boards at a school (funded by my Old Blue contemporaries, before anyone throws eggs) and needs to change school in September.

Due to latent family issue and the resulting missing the closing dates for every school under the sun, I contacted CH to see if they could help. I wasn't bad at school and Laura H (my half sis) finished last year, having been a decent Blue as well.

They've no free beds...!
Eeek.
Are there any house staff reading this that know where they could squeeze an extra bed in? Any help would be enormously appreciated.

if you can't get her into CH, why not try KES Witley ? My son moved there from CH, and my daughter also went there , and both loved it ( OK, so it's not CH, but it is a sister-school, and not that far from Horsham).

There is also the Bluecoat school in Bristol - another of the offshoots of CH

Queen Elizabeth's Hospital. Not exactly an offshoot, but modelled on CH.

However, it's a school for boys.......

New school plus gender reassignment. Children are very adaptable though!

The issue here is that I don't *know* KES Witley.

I know that sounds a little silly but with what's happened, I need her to be somewhere that I have a good knowledge of.

I've seen a lot of schools in the last couple of years for her but you never really get an insight into any of them on a day visit. She was due to go to Cheltenham Ladies and it was the only school that I felt remotely comfortable with. That took 4 visits!

Does this make me a bunny-boiler mother?

Absolutely no way. It makes you a concerned and involved parent who wants to do the right thing for her child. It's very difficult to gauge a school from a visit when people are on their best behaviour. And of course it makes the decision doubly difficult when the child is going to be away boarding. There are so many other issues to consider. You want to be extra sure of what you're doing. I wish you both good luck!
