Shattered but good exhaustion!!

Post by Katharine »

I have just had the biggest two days of my year as Inner Wheel District Chairman - it explains why I have been a bit quieter than usual recently!

Yesterday the National President arrived at lunch time. John and I met her as I am still not driving much. We took her to Caernarfon for lunch so she could see the castle there. We then went to the Ffestiniog Railway for a ride. There were 19 of us on the train, the weather was mixed we could not see the full beauty of the region but there was much chatter anyway! After that John took the accompanying husbands for a meal while we all went for a buffet dinner at the home of one of our members. There were about 30 of us there. The dinner was provided by my Club members and was delicious.

Today we all headed off to Llandudno bright and early for an official lunch. Proceedings started with photographs galore - I seemed to be in all of these and my smiling muscles began to ache. There were 175 at the lunch - just one man!! (My Rotary Counterpart) I did not have to make a major speech but chaired the whole meeting. The National President made a superb speech and was much appreciated. It all went very well and everyone told me it was a wonderful day and very relaxed which is what I wanted. I don't feel in a position to judge it! I had to do all the linking bits and introduce the various speakers. This time I didn't script it all and just went with the flow having written notes.

I have spent the last two years thinking and planning for these two days and can't quite believe it is all over now. I am now feeling shattered and tomorrow I have to be on an interviewing panel for job applicants at the Railway so will have to be compos mentis!!

What the blazes has been going on here in the last few days? I cannot possibly read all posts since my last visit. I thought I was in the running for Buttons soon and have been overtaken by so many!

I hope Sean is still off the weed - don't intend to catch up on all these posts, if there is anything I really ought to read, please point me in the right direction!

Katharine how come you aren't a dribbling wreck? You should be after the last two days. It sounds like you have done a fantastic job of the event

I'm glad all went well! I bet the time went really quickly despite the years of planning.

On here Sean and Ruth have been having a competition to see who can post the most in the shortest time! Those of us stupid enough (ME) to actually try and follow what has gone on are now thoroughly shellshocked.

There is a thread relating to donation governors that Mary thought you might be able to answer the odd question on. Other than that some interesting stuff for seventies Horsham members but probably nothing else of crucial importance.

Once again I'm glad all went well.

Sounds like you need a good stiff drink to help you cope with the last two days

Thanks Andy, that was the sort of reply I wanted. I have posted on Donation Governors.

I can't take alcohol, Sean, because of my migraines, but I am off to bed now, tomorrow is another day!

That's a little unfair. I've just come back to say hi to you guys and see what's going on at the forum (that sounds like it's in Rome!) it's just I get a bit addicted and post a lot

I'll go away soon for another few months, don't worry

Still feeling shattered! However I managed to negotiate a pay rise for myself this morning before doing the interviewing!! It won't come into effect until January 1st but it will be considerably higher than the rest of the staff. I think my absences in NZ and after my varicose veins op have made them value my work at last!

I haven't been away, even been logging on at work, and I am lost.

Oh well done Katharine, I had not seen the post about your pay rise at first. I hope you feel suitably pleased with yourself. Hearty congratulations
