Should I bother?

Greetings all from North Wales. I have returned from my sojourn down under (does that include NZ as well as Oz?)

My question is, should I bother to plough through all you lot have been talking about for the last three weeks or plunge in again and happily ignore the hiatus in my knowledge of the forum! I see Mallet's Mallet is still going strong I am NOT going to go through 66 pages of that to see if I repeat anything.

If there are any developments I really should know, could some kind person PM me with them as tomorrow I go back to work and no doubt it will take some time to get back into the swing of things.

Welcome back!! hope you had a good and profitable time away!

I don`t think there`s anything earth-shatteringly interesting - but you should perhaps get up-to-date on CHA events if nothing else.

(oh, and JR is still taking the tablets and looking for his coat!)

Thanks for that, I'll look those up. I was wondering about Everest as I was in NZ when the double amputee made it - top news there in every way. I told my hosts about the CH lads, but they were more interested in their own countryman's achievement. Did our boys make the front page of any national newspaper? That was what sparked our conversation.

According to today's Indy he has had to be carried down and airlifted off as he has frostbite again.

A Brit (not one of 'ours') has frozen to death.

Everest is undoubtedly the main thing to happen as others have said.

John Knight's photos on the Water Tower Scaffolding thread are well worth a look too.

Your views on Mr Ruck's resemblance (or not) to Alan Titchmarsh would also be welcome

Well, Mr. T. was indeed on T.V. yesterday evening during coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show. My wife was watching it.

I, on the other hand, was in my garden digging a small pond. Perhaps all these comparisons are starting to make me behave like the man!

However, I think I'll stop short of writing cheesy novels.

Do you dig small ponds or were you really digging a small pond.
Is the pond small in relation to a larger pond that you dug once before.
Might you soon be known as Richard Two Ponds Ruck???

As for the AT photo business - I have no words - well actually I have a few but they're best left somewhere else.

I dont think the photo does your height justice - or have you shrunk???

I wasn't digging the pond in the sense of "Man, what a really groovy excavation soon to be filled with water and some appropriate planting - far out!".

I was in fact creating a small indentation in the Earth's surface using a metal-and-wood solo-use manual horticultural excavation implement.

My memory's getting addled - I need a hint about the alleged previous pond.....

And no, I haven't shrunk - an element of outward expansion might have given that impression, but it's just an optical illusion. I'm still as tall as I was when my mum took the earlier photo!
