It is possible that uniform manufactures were busy elsewhere in 1916, so the school had to make do with what it had.

Of course, that too.

Constant Lambert is quite famous, but I cannot recall ever having heard anything by him. Am I alone?
His son Kit managed The Who.

Yes, I discovered when investigating a bit about CL that his son managed/discovered The Who. Which surprised me as I'd always assumed that he ....errr.... wasn't the marrying type. In fact he was married twice.

He's also alleged to be one of the many/several to have an affaire with Margot Fonteyn.

As if!!!

I can't bear Titchmarsh! A Face On a Stick! A mere glimpse of that smug grinning mug drives me to a state of fury. I had to be dragged (along with my trusty felt-tip) away from a cardboard display of him in Waterstones, before I drew a moustache, beard, other ornamentation etc!

(No offence meant, gingerbeard...)

Nothing like the sophisticated good looks of RR!

On the other hand, the likeness of Mr Bell and CL is uncanny.

It was I, Alan. I have a particular interest in him as portrayed in Nancy Mitford's novels as "Lord Merlin". There is a wonderful photo of him posing in a clump of gunnera in "The Mitford Sisters" - letters edited by Charlotte Mosley - my Christmas present last year!

I have a treasured CD of Rio Grande with my own daughter Catherine (then aged 16) playing the piano with an augmented Millfield orchestra and the local Choral Society. It was excellently done, and made all the more poignant as she had just developed diabetes and required a sweet on the keyboard in case she felt a coma coming on. A slight figure dressed in the purest white, she received a much deserved standing ovation.

I noted, in your last Post, that your Daughter Catherine, is a Diabetic (New PC description "Person with Diabetes"- Bah !)
and had the sense -- or experience ? to have a sweet handy to avoid "Hypos"
I have been a Type 1 "Diabolical" for over 53 years now, and The Blessed Anne for 30 years --- so she believes it to be infectious !!! --- we always carry Mini- Mars Bars !
I believe that it has done me a favour, I would have been an even bigger Slob, than I am, had I not had to watch over my diet and exercise.
I don't know how old your Daughter was, when first diagnosed --- it is always a shock, when young -- I was 28 and a Boxer ---( Stupid !!--) but I try to tell young Diabetics, that there is nothing that you have to give up --- except Treacle Pud !

All Miles "Off Topic" but I was interested !
