"The Law is an Ass"
We have just heard, on the News, that two Police Constables, have been breaking the Law, by Baby- sitting for each other, when they are on Shift.
The Blessed Anne, and I have now discovered that we may, also, be Criminals !
We have two Families, living close to us, with young children.
From time to time, we are asked to Baby-sit.
In return, they water our Greenhouse, while we are away on Holiday.
It would appear that this constitutes a "Reward" --- and is an illegal arrangement.
This interpretation was thought up by some Ijit in an orifice in Ofsted ! (Not the Attorney General !!!) with the IQ of a Prawn !
Posters will know that JR and I have historical sympathies with the Police, but this stupidity, when applied to anyone -- beggars belief. Two Shop Assistants at Tescos, on different shifts --- Nurses, etc. etc.
We don't appear to have a "Smiley" for INCANDESCENCE !!! (So I can't spell !)

Baby-sittng in the child's own house is not a criminal offence - yet.
Will this do?
or this (possibly more appropriate)

The people who thought up this nonsense are clearly under-employed, and we all know that THE DEVIL FINDS WORK FOR IDLE HANDS!

I understand that Ofsted are now "Reviewing the matter" --------Baby -sitting being a matter of Education --- ?
Presumeably due to the general Public Reaction to this Idiocy,
I believe that it fell to Ofsted, due to a "Complaint" (Unspecified !) -- A ruse, we often used when I was in Politics !!!!

According to the Times A.Neighbour shopped them, and the first the DC knew about it was when "the l;ady from Ofsted" appeared on her doorstep.

About the other three police constables who were on TV a little while ago; has the investigation as to why they used a helpless human for Taser target practive been dropped yet?
Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.

Re: "The Law is an Ass"
I was deeply disturbed yesterday (if you are going to tell a lie make it a good one!). Our local TV news showed a football team running on to the pitch before the game, each member holding the hand of a presumably unrelated child. Had these people been CRB checked? If not why not? Have the children been counselled?
There, I feel better now!

I know exactly where you are coming from.... HOWEVER
Most, if not all senior football clubs that work with or are actively involved with 'youth' do have a 'Child Protection Officer' on their staff.
I know that even in this day and age, that is no genuine protection. Just look at the femle Nursery staff member from Plymouth that has just pleaded guilty to child abuse crimes on mere babes!
Time for the return of the rope, me-thinks

Re: "The Law is an Ass"
I think that I may have completely missed the point.
I assumed that the perceived problem was that Police Officers, and employees of some other organisations, are not permitted to have 'second jobs', and that even if these Officers were doing it for nothing, or rather as a barter, it could still be construed as a second income.
However, is it that no-one may baby-sit unless they have been checked and approved by some agency or other?
I was going to ask if someone would elucidate, but fear that I may hyperventilate over the answer.

Re: "The Law is an Ass"
Prepare to hyperventilate - it is all to do with child protection taken to ridiculous extremes. If the two mothers concerned were related to each other, apparently it would be alright! So I am still allowed to babysit for my grandchildren - if I ever get the opportunity!
