A colleague from work's parents live on a farm between Chideock and Seatown - at New Year's I spent a happy few hours in the pub at Seatown! :)
Yes, Seatown is one of the best beaches in Dorset, possibly better than Burton Bradders, as we call it. Was the pub the one right on the beach?
That's the one - it's called the anchor I think...

you are right - the anchor

i think in the old daysit had an ancient anchor rotting / rusting away outside - now gone

Sadly also the pub serves bad beer

They have the pulling things but you cant help noticing that when hey pull them the beer flows like a switch is turned on without any actual pulling
like you see in a real pub with real ale

DavebytheSea wrote: Burton Bradstock is close - the clock in the church is the old CH clock from London. It was bought to celebrate Quenn Victoria's jubilee in 1901 (or some such). There is a plaque about it in the church. When I camped there as a 7 yearr old, I was told that the clock occasionally tolled the rising bell and other odd chimings!

I've been to Burton Bradstock today & remembered this thread & have taken a few piccies!

Vonny - the pictures are great. Now please contact Maria and tell her how to set about putting pictures on this forum - then she can teach me in easy stages - I am a 'bear of very little brain' when it comes to things technical!

Do we know whether the vicar who bought the clock was an Old Blue? Was it just a bargain with the Foundation selling off things no longer wanted?

Ha ha - I am really NOT an expert in this kind of thing BUT I am kind of pleased with myself for putting these pictures on here! It's the first time I have put full size piccies on a forum! It's actually very easy - well, it must be if I managed it

I'm not sure of the circumstances although the plaque says it was bought by the parishioners.

Did you know that there is a bit of old CH (Newgate St) in Beaminster market square, masquerading as a fountain or some such. Don't ask me how it got there, or why.
