Somebody, somewhere is joking

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Since someone resurrected the thread I noticed your "contribution". Yes; but you will not get a unique engraved tasting glass.

Alternatively, if you are concerned about splashing out so many euros (now that the pound is collapsing) you could come and help us celebrate the end of the harvest - tasting followed by an all "you can eat" buffet with the creme de la societe Toulousienne - all for free.
Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.

May I return to this Topic --- for 2009 ?
The Old Blues Day is scheduled in the Old Blue, for April 25th.
I have booked my accomodation (As close to the Bax Arms , as possible ) but I have no further information as to what is "Going On" -- other than a "Reception" in the evening. Presumeably a Rugby Match and Shooting on the Range Etc ?
Has anybody any further news , and what kind of "Reception" --- Black Tie or Jeans ?
Help !

Surely that's Poseidon?

Does anyone know if they're having that whole "Grecians drink tea with OBs" thing in the afternoon this year? If the Saturday thing means we don't get that, I'll probably have a proper wobbly.

Very interesting - I noticed Mr. Plum in that photo too! But no afternoon tea for GRs and OBs :(

Ah well, guess we'll see you there!

I expect the Grecians will be in the "Grecians Gift" event, where we can meet them and help them meet their objectives.

Yep !-- I got on to the CH Shop and tried to register as an OB, also to book in for Coffee, Lunch, Tea etc, also to make a donation.---------
LO ! I had to do it all through Pay Pal, which I endeavoured to do, using my Debit Card.
It appears, thet some years ago, I had paid for something through Pay Pal and they already had my details.
They therefore REFUSED my payment, alleging the wrong card and the wrong number.
It would not need a Poirot to work out that the card and number, night have changed, over the years ----- !
I tried to explain-- BUT once you are in their system with a name, a password and a card number THATS IT !
You are obviously trying to impersonate the original person ---- I expect a blue lamp outside the door at any moment !

What have I done ? I have reverted to writing a letter to the CHA and enclosing a cheque !
The CHA says that doing it "On line" saves time and money for them --- it might,-----but not for me !

Somebody somewhere ----- GRRR !

TBC...but the provisional plan is to have something starting at the end of the day, going on during Saturday Evening. That said, the next day is the Horsham St. George's Day parade, so don't quote me on this, it's still pipeline.

Have you tried going onto the www.paypal.com website and changing your account details to update it with your new card number? If you can't remember your password after all this time just do the 'forgotten my password' thing and it'll get emailed to you. I had to do it fairly recently when I lost my bank card, it was quite easy.

Sorry, lonelymom, to be a complete "Grouch" but I don't WANT an account with Paypal !
For some time now, I have been deleting the various advertisements which they send, and yet ------- !
I did use them, years ago to support someone who was needing sponsorship, but, as I said --- Now I am in the "System" and I have tried to get in touch with them to get my name and details deleted ---- Fat Chance ! "Name, Account Number, Password all required ----- I continue to GGGGR !
There appears to be no way of writing them a LETTER to explain my wishes !
Again my apologies for behaving like an Octogenarian --- But ! 81 on April 3rd !

This is the first problem I've been aware of with using Paypal on the CHA shop site.
We chose it because it's the internet's most popular and used service for taking credit cards quickly and simply, and doesn't require you to provide your credit card details direct to CH - i.e. only Paypal have them, so you're sharing your details with fewer companies/organisations.
The time saving is significant for orders placed online, avoiding the need to process paperwork coming into the office - with Wendy on her own at the moment, this is all the more relevent. She can print out receipts/invoices for people, and just package and send out what people have ordered.

Re. your problem - as suggested previously, logging on to your paypal account will then enable you to change your card details. Here's how:-
1. Go to http://www.paypal.com, and login (I'm assuming you have your username/password, as you got that far before and it told you your card is invalid?)
2. Under the My Account tab at the top, click on Profile.
3. In the middle "Financial Information" section, click on "Credit/Debit Cards" or "Bank Accounts", depending on what you registered with them.
From there, you can "remove" or "Add" cards and details.

Alternatively, on the payment page of the CHA site, once you reach the Paypal login page you can click on "Continue" under the "Don't have a Paypal account?" on the left hand side (under the credit card logos).
This should enable you to enter all your details, without having to have a Paypal account.

If you wish to remove your paypal account completely, you can use the link "Close Account" in the "Profile" section described above.

Sorry you've found this a difficult experience - if you're still struggling with it, then I suggest you continue to use the snail-mail approach to the CHA office. The CHA will also be happy to cater for those not internet-enabled, or who prefer not to submit details online.

Kind regards,
