Well, if any of the class of '89-96 are on here, perhaps they'd like to recount the tale of their field trip to the Natural History and science museums in London. That was a memorable one!!!
I always hated field trips as they inevitabely resulted in some penguin bashing; I learnt this fairly early during a 'Discovery' visit to Arundel in the first few weeks of my squits.

I remember a Classics Dept. trip to London for some exhibition (something to do with Pompeii, I think).
John Dennison and John Trappes-Lomax accompanied us in a minibus. I think we had a quick look at the exhibition before heading off to the pub (central London, wearing full housey).
Great fun. John Trappes-Lomax insisted on taking the train back to C.H. (presumably so that he could squeeze in a couple of swifties at The Bax before closing time).
Not so much a "field" trip as exposure to the East End of the Kray Bros - a visit to Fords in Dagenham in the late 50's.
Another trip was to Wimbledon - what a bore, given I could never stand the game even though it seemed top be available for only a week a year.
Less organised but far more enjoyable were the fortnightly overnight camping trips to Stone Farm Rocks .......
I later had the ? misfortune to be on the wrong side when some 20 grecians (in tatty jeans and worse) invaded the City firm I worked for; noisy, messy - definitely a turn-off. At least at my lecture on merchant banking the next year they turned up in uniform!

but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.
