Re: CH Tuck Shop
Mum has run the tuck shop since my parents came to work at the school since 1992... it has things in there that are very difficult to get hold of elsewhere... - however, I did see some toffee crumble in a jar at another sweet shop!

I spend almost half of my time in tuck shop buying the same thing every day : A cherry coke and a galaxy. Yummy

Re: CH Tuck Shop
In my junior years I used to buy a "Frutina Ice" on an almost daily basis. There was a really generous amount in a cup and they were only 40p. Then one fateful September Monday at the beginning of the new school year, they had changed their name to Slush Puppy, taken a price hike to £1 and were half the size as before. I never bought one again.

They`ve NEVER been £1 in tuckshop! Currently 55p for small, 80 for large .Wuppertal wrote:In my junior years I used to buy a "Frutina Ice" on an almost daily basis. The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
Re: CH Tuck Shop
OK, my apologies, it must have just been the severe shock of finding my favourite things had taken a price rise at all, and 15p itself is a lot when you are 14!Mrs C. wrote:They`ve NEVER been £1 in tuckshop! Tizer, Cydrax... 3d deposit on the bottle
(15c on equivalent bottles in Germany now = about 12p = 2s 5d, a tenfold increase, less than inflation)

ISTR Tizer replacing Corona. I think also there was some strange northern brew called Irn Brew; not sure if it referred to steel workers, Ern'll brew (something) illicitly, some woman out of Coronation Street, some furrin lingo or Mr Ernie Wisemichael scuffil wrote:Tizer, Cydrax... 3d deposit on the bottle

Having more money doesn't make you happier. I have 50 million dollars
but I'm just as happy as when I had 48 million.

Irn Bru is Scottish and is the definitive hangover cure, or at least it was until they started making a diet version. I didn't realise it had eached so far south so long ago, I first came across it in Blackpool in the summer of 1974.sejintenej wrote:ISTR Tizer replacing Corona. Kia-Ora - "orange" squash extreme! A more lurid shade than Peckham Spring Water, it glowed in the glass, had no resemblance whatsoever to an authentic orange and had those weird little gritty bits at the bottom of the bottle. Mainstay of summer picnics and childrens' parties.
I must have consumed vats of the stuff.

Irn Brew is readily available in many good retailers in leafy Dorking. Can't say I like it particularly.
