We still have one old boy living here, the last one from our Chinchilla breeding days. He's 18 now, and mainly sleeps and eats. He still occasionally does a patrol of the garden,Angela Woodford wrote:Think how terrible that little cat must have felt! Infections, fleas, worms and missing teeth! I wonder if you will ever catch a glimpse of him again, Kerren? However, now he's been properly treated, thanks to you, he'll have a busy career as a Feline Prison Officer!kerrensimmonds wrote:Poor little chap ended up in prison...............
Seriously - he spent the whole day at the vets where it was discovered that not only did the eye infections need treatment and he was riddled with fleas and worms - but also that he had a serious mouth infection and had already lost a number of teeth.
The Rescue people decided that he was too vulnerable to return to live 'in the wild', so he has joined a semi-feral colony of 4/5 cats in Ford Open Prison (hello hello I can feel jokes about absconding coming on.....). His job is to catch mice etc., but the Warders will keep an eye on him and if it looks as if he needs more veterinary treatment, he will be taken back to the vets. I have had no further news of him - though as I drive through the middle of Ford Prison to and from work, I keep my eyes peeled in case I see him.
I hope that it is a satisfactory outcome for him - though for a few days afterwards I did feel bereft!
I was entranced last night to see an add on the telly (a gourmet cat food) featuring the most gorgeous Chinchilla - perfect thick white fur, green eyes + eyeliner, plushy tail! This must be the glamour cat for selling things? I can remember the Kosset Carpet Cat! And there was a beauty in a James bond film? This cat is so lovely.

Two Chinchilla's were used for the James Bond films.... One with Charles Gray and one with Donald Pleasance.
Maxamillian & Soloman.
Soloman was a fore-father of our very first breeding queen !
