We have adopted.........................
.......... a new kitten.
He is about 5 weeks old and was described as almost feral from countryside southn of Dorking. Deserted by his mother, we rescued his sister three days ago and she has gone to a good home.
The land owner managed to trap the little lad yesterday and called us on our return from Horsham. Seems the rest of the litter have been taken by foxes. He is semi-long-haired and jet black. Not a hair of white on him.
We introduced him to his two adopted brothers yesterday evening without any problems and left him in our spare room to settle down to living indoors.
Surprise - Surprise. I awoke at 4:00 am this morning to find him curled up on my legs. Talk about falling on his feet. He is absolutely GORGEOUS. I apologise to all you non-cat lovers. I'll get Sconey to post a piccy when I've done one.
He is still, as yet, un-named !

is this the youngest cat of your parents? or the cat of your youngest parent? Really, Amy, I find it even harder to understand you than you find it is to understand me!blondie95 wrote: the youngest of my parents cat is a year old and still so like a kitten!
..... and how you can know that a kitten is capable of wonder, I simply do not know.

AWW... I always wanted a cat... didn't get one cos a. Dad is a bird lover and b. Dad is a dog lover. There are various other reasons being c. Dad doesn't like the smell of cat p*ss.... sob but that didn't put me off. Ah well, I will just listen to all your stories of cute cat-ness and hope one day to have one of my own.

AAhhh JR you are just a great big softie at heart!
What name have you now chosen for your new kitten? Rambo?
I'm glad his sister has gone to a good home... all cats need loving humans.
At the moment I am trying to persuade the Worthing Cat Rescue people to come and catch/look after a ginger and white stray that I have been feeding for 2.5 years - and who now (I think) lives in the padded and protected box put outside my front door over a year ago.If and when they do catch him/her and find him/her a new home, I will be devastated!

The best job I ever had was while I worked for English Heritage as a student. I was at a lady's house for a fortnight cataloguing photos of cannon (it gets better) and her cat had just had kittens. They progressed from the eyes tight shut stage to racing around the room being gorgeous while I was a mere foot away. I loved that job!

No name as yet. I wanted to call him Satan, but perhaps not !
I've taken some photo's but haven't downloaded them yet.
With regard to the smell of cat pee - It's only the Tom's (male cats) pee that smells, and then only if an entire male. After neutering the smell disappears.

apart from his kennel name, the dog of my sister in law was called DC - short for "Daft Critter".J.R. wrote:No name as yet. I wanted to call him Satan, but perhaps not !

Since he died some years ago the name is vacant ....
