It is a sad but true fact that phone and broadband companies are so desparate for new customers that they forget the existing ones. I have also found that there are always hidden extras no matter who the provider is.

I hve heard only good reports about Orange thus far

They own Wanadoo which is my ISP and is pretty useless. They quoted 8 days to install broadband. After many hours of telephone calls and several visits to their premises I got connected in 19 days; this is rated as incredibly rapid. I know of people who waited over a month; their name over here is (smelly brown stuff)

PC World are total rubbish at after sales care

PC World have (had) a policy whereby they refused to sell to you even for cash unless you disclosed your full name and address. The cashier did have a facility to ensure that your name didn't get onto marketing lists which I insisted was used.

They however broke their own rule and ignored the "no marketing" - in fact gross misuse of computer records - I reckon it is criminal. OK so I got an apology from them, their parent company and an undertaking in writing from the head of their legal department that he would ensure that all such lists of "no marketing" would be destroyed rather than improperly used.

I am just waiting for them to slip up so that I can take them to the commissioner and have all their computer systems removed forceably as a penalty.

Currys! They fitted a washing machine badly which flooded our kitchen floor causing £2000 worth of damage...mum not happy so shes ended up being referred to the top dogs there! haha!

Been away from Britain for a while, came back recently and obviously had cause to ring lots of customer service lines - banks, phone companies, etc., etc. - and discovered that virtually every phone call I made was unsatisfactory, to a greater or lesser degree.

Whether it was wrong information, on hold too long, couldn't get through to right department, being passed around, whatever, it was really quite amazing.

Then finally there was one phone call which seemed to go perfectly though, and I put the phone down and at last had the elated feeling of a happy customer - until I discovered a few days later that the bloke had cheerfully and confidently delivered me a load of utter rubbish.

Ho hum.

That could very well be because most of your calls were routed to India. Nearly all of our call centres are run abroad now

Yes indeed, had a few calls to Indian call centres, not ideal, but the service wasn't much worse than the British ones!

sometimes it's hard to understand the accent, but that's all
