Lots of feating, prayers, apples dipped in honey, Mashed Yams, special Challah Bread (to die for!) and well - as per normal on a Jewish feast - loasd of booze - All I did were the candle lightings (I made a Menorah) did the appropriate preyers in Hebrew - i just hope the G-d understands my Hebrew as I doubt anyone else would...had an apple vut into slices and dipped it into a small amount of honey, and listened to some Jewish music.
Then I ignored all the rules and went out!

it is - last year I had 2- people in for about 5 hours! The consumed 8lbs of Challah Bread (it is rather yummy) dozens of apples in honey (to make your year sweet) l cooked a 2 gallon preserving pan of Yams and acrrot mashed - then put into serving bows, then there was other traditional food such as olives, dates, and cake!Great Plum wrote:The food sounds great!
Next Monday (ie October 2nd) is Yom Kippur - where we starve from sunset on the Sunday to sunset on the Monday to attone for our sins - and ask for forgiviness - luckily we have a FEAST day on the Sunday before sundown - it is to ensure we do not damage ourselves whilst taking a day off from eating - because of ill health I am allowed water.
Then we have a load more feastivals - all include gorgeous food and lots of alcohol! Being intolerant ot Alchohol isn't much fun!
