the rain has arrived - we are down to a mere 24C! No massive storms just November grey skies terrible humidity this am, it rained at 5am, then again at about 11,1300, and 1700. It does mean I don't have to get dressed and water the plants and the air is slightly cooler - but I really really want a BIG MASSIVE THUNDERSTORM TO TAKE THE HEAT AWAY TOTALLY!!!
I mightt feel better if it does!

I found that if you move in slow motion you can actually keep quite cool
The people I most pity is those who are rushing to work on the London underground at rush hour
Pray for them!
by the way - Ora pro nobis meand pray for us
What is the latin for Pray for them?
Ora pro eius?
Or orate pro eis if you want more than one person to do the praying.
I found out why they're green. They're the people that learnt stuff at school. I knew the first one (ora pro nobis) so maybe I learnt a tiny bit, but only from being in the choir, but they actually know Latin so they can use it. Ha. Green = clever.

so for those of us who can't get to being green, or who know we no longer have brain as there is now cotton wool, can we go pink?

Just to let you know I'm back, so those of you that thought sanity had decided to dwell on this forum are mistaken.
I GORGEOUS long weekend away in Peacehaven and Brighton. Loads of sun and even more alcohol.
On return, I found a decidedly sick computer. Various cat-sitting grand-children were suspected of inviting a virus onto the hard-drive. A two day wait for our friendly computer doc. to arrive and remove the sick tower.
It transpired the power control unit in the tower had decided to play silly b*ggers, so 40 quid poorer, and I'm back !

Poor JR!!
OK I can offer you advice, or you can pay me (in hours) to fix it, or send it to me and I wil fit it..
Unless of course you are able to all the above and fix it yourself.... I have asick Toshiba laptop coming to pay a visit - this house is fast becoming a home for down and outs! Computers, odd animals, cars, (usually my sons!) and people in need of food and nuture for a few days (one coming next week!)
and all you worry about is the drivers are not working on your pc?????
1: go to the control panel, open system icon and remove the cd/dvd/ writer from your system.
2. make sure you have the cd handy and the restore disk in case of ememrgency
3. reboot pc - if you are XP or higher then the pc will find the hardware and look for the driver - put in the cd and select the correct driver - tally ho it should after another reboot work!

Unfortunately, we were silly enough to buy a computer from the now defunct Tiny Computers. Everything pre-installed, with only a disc to restore the machine to it's factory settings which is fine if you want to spend a couple of days re-installing all your previously saved files.Jude wrote:Poor JR!!

The CD is reading fine. It's only when you try to burn from cd, or do a disc copy for back-up, the system slows down and eventually tells us the writeable cd 'isn't writeable, which it IS!
It's approaching it's fourth birthday, so maybe getting beyond it's sell-by date. As you can now pick up a very good cd/dvd rw for around 30 quid, that may be the option. Only other possibility is that the laser is dirty, and I can't find my cd lens cleaner at the moment. Probably one of the grand-daughters on the 'borrow' again !

Sir thinks that Tiny is operating again (yes he has a Tiny computer) although not selling machines. He suggests trying the help lineJ.R. wrote:Unfortunately, we were silly enough to buy a computer from the now defunct Tiny Computers. Thanks Margaret. To be honest, I wouldn't waist my time with 'em. When we bought the equipment we purchased the full maintenance contract on the same credit card, then they got bought out by 'Time', who refused to honour the agreement, so we had to go through the Ombudsman to get that part of the credit transaction refunded.midget wrote:Sir thinks that Tiny is operating again (yes he has a Tiny computer) although not selling machines.
