May I make a gentle reminder on this discussion trail as well as the Lost Voices posting. If anyone is planning to come to the Lost Voices Heard event on Fri 30th May then PLEASE could you complete the registration with me by 23rd April. This gives me time to get info out to you and check dietry/travel/access things. Thanks so much .

We have 60-70 people booked to attend so far in person mainly, with a few on zoom. Thank you to all those who have completed the form already.

Thank you for the invite. Sadly, as one of the signatories to the letter has called me ‘part of the problem’ I don’t think that this event would be safe for me to attend. So I continue to try and find the help that is so elusive

I think the guiding principles should be safety, consent, and clear purpose. Older pupils (16+) could attend, but only on a fully voluntary basis, with clear information beforehand and appropriate emotional support available. Some may find it meaningful, others distressing, so choice is crucial. The same applies to current teachers: voluntary attendance is appropriate, provided expectations are clear and the focus is on listening and reconciliation, not defence or institutional representation. Regardless of timing, safeguarding officers should be required to attend or be on duty, as their presence is essential to manage risk, support disclosures, and ensure the event remains safe for all involved.
