Masters' names

In the late nineteen thirties, c 1936 ( before my time I hasten to add) the two Housemasters in Thornton A were Rev W C S Johns and Mr. B.N. John. This must have been very confusing to a number of people.I remember W.R. Macklin using their names to indicate the correct use of the apostrophe in one of his excellent English lessons. There was also a Mr.Featherstonaugh, pronounced I believe Feestonho. who had an
ungainly walk. Previous mention has been made in these columns of masters with names of colours. Pink, Green, Brown, White .
Blamire- Brown was an unusual name although I have come across it from time to time.

I can remember two unusual spellings, Tod and Beaven (housemasters of Ma A and Pe A respectively c. 1960).
