Opposite the foot of the stone stairs, was the "Boot Room" with spaces for individual's boots.
I suppose that does not exist in Ba B now ----- but why not ? Girls play rugby !!

Yes, I remember the boot room. It was where shoes were kept overnight and smelt of blacking, of which I just got a virtual whiff while writing this. The uses it was otherwise put to (it was a bit out of the way, there was a swing door between it and the changing rooms) were just as louche as those to which the emergency stairs were put. (I don't think there's been an actual "emergency" since the houses were built.)
