Re: Initial assessment
Or rather, how much time does it take/is given?

Re: Initial assessment
A couple of hours max, I think. I had a snooze in the car.
Re: Initial assessment
Just time enough to go into Horsham for a coffee and a bit of shopping. Not too long. Good luck

Re: Initial assessment
Thank-you both.
My daughter will be doing this at her current school, as we are so far away. Her head teacher was asking me how long it will take just for her own planning purposes really...

I think each test (Maths and English) was 3/4 hour with a short break in between. Where abouts are you? Good luck!

Re: Initial assessment
The closing date for replies is today.
Once all the applications have been processed I will be allocating slots for the Initial Assessment for Sat 13th Nov.
I expect to be doing this on Mon 25th Oct, so candidates' parents should hear by the end of the state school half-term.
I hope that this information helps.

Re: Initial assessment
Howard,
Thanks, I rang admissions who pointed out the date was with the initial info packs sent out (think it got buried in a paper pile somewhere). They also said we would get notification of time and place by end of October.
Being in Reading with my mum in Horsham we are fine with either location and time so shall just wait and see. Am busy not mentioning it around the house as don't think the "anticipation nerves" will do son any good at all. I will just remind him a couple of days beforehand.

Re: Initial assessment
SAS, thank-you. Sorry for not replying sooner, but have been offline due to a monumental house moving cock-up!
We are in Ilfracombe, on the north coast of Devon, a long way from anywhere, Horsham included.
I have been informed that the date for my daughter will be Friday 12th November. My greatest fear is that she won't get through it all, as she can be overly meticulous at times. She is totally unconcerned with it all at the moment, but the nerves are bound to kick in on the morning.

What's wrong with Ilfracombe, it's not far from Barnstaple, and who could ask for anything more?
Seriously though, good luck to your DD, we need more Blues in this neck of the woods.

There's nothing wrong with Ilfracombe Midget, I love it here!
But you must know what I mean about it being a long way from anywhere...
Do you have a child at the school, or are you an old blue? (Or should that be Old Blue?)

I just envy the pupils at CH now, with a much more free atmosphere, better accomodation, and a good education.

Re: Initial assessment
Hi Volupturaptor and "Good Luck" with the entrance exam. I am a CH parent and we live in Devon, know quite a few CH pupils who live in Devon and a couple in Cornwall too! So don't feel too alone, there are lots of us in the West Country.
