Why Leigh Hunt?

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

I carefully considered my chidren's initials; and, for the girls, the potential change on marriage.

My Mother had a Friend named Pearl Button, and my first Wife, had a Friend, born on November 11th named ------- you guessed it -------- POPPY !!!

In English Law, you are, what you call yourself.

In the CAB, I was frequently giving advice to ladies, who, divorced, wished to revert to their un-married surname.

Provided the NHS, Tax Office, Creditors, etc. are informed ---- just do it ! There is no need for a Notary, but a small advertisement, in the local Newspaper, can be a cheap option.

(Consultations at a nominal fee, ---- are available, provided TBA does not find out !! )

Hunt's full name was James Henry Leigh Hunt. His father has tutor to the Duke of Chandos's son - James Henry Leigh - and named his own son in honour of his exalted pupil. Leigh was, therefore, originally a surname but for Hunt became a first name since there was no family connection. There is a superb biography of Hunt - The Wit in the Dungeon - by Anthony Holden, which I strongly recommend.

Every time I check new entries on this thread, I can't help but smile and remember that classic line from one of the great American comedy films of the 80's, possibly, 'Porkies'.

The line comes, when the students phone a local fast-food restaurant from a pay-phone just outside, and ask a waitress to page MIKE HUNT !

I'll leave the rest to your imagination. B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T !!

(If anyone doesn't 'get-it' -- feel free to PM me !!)

We wanted to call our son Alexander Richard, but with a surname beginning with S we had to abandon the idea!

If you own land and/or buildings you have to make a declaration before a Commissioner for Oaths (who is a solicitor with extra duties / authority). You would also have to notify the Land Registry

There was a time when we would have liked to have named our son George but the other one was about as popular as a poo in a kitchen. D*** politicians; why do they have to mess up our lives so deeply?
