Can you give your feedback here re. the Carol Concert - I'll pass it all on to the CHA board.

Questions to answer:-
1. If you went - What did you think? What was good? What could have been better? Would you like it to happen again next year? If so, what would you like to see next year? If not, why not?
2. If you didn't go - why, and what would encourage you to come next year, if anything?

PLEASE let's keep this one on-topic, as then it'll be easy for me to pass on the feedback.....

My personal feedback.....

DEFINITELY want it to happen next year again...

Likes:-
1. Liked the scratch-choir - was good fun to be involved.
2. Liked the venue - great acoustic, and felt intimate enough for the numbers that were there, but could have accomodated far more if we get more numbers next year.
3. The music choices - a good variety.
4. The atmosphere at Jamie's - good to have a set-aside area, but still part of the pub.
5. Was nice to see a couple of pupils on the door - maybe next year more involvement from the Grecians could be encouraged, to bridge the gap between school and Old Blues?
6. Meeting up with forum members, and putting faces to names!
7. Meeting up unexpectedly with people I didn't know would be there..

Improvements:-
1. Would love to increase numbers - the fuller the church, the better the atmosphere.
2. Jamie's wasn't cheap - had comments from younger Old Blues there that it was expensive too. But, I guess that's London prices....
3. Personally I think a Friday night would be better....living outside London I had to take Thurs afternoon and Friday off as holiday to really be able to enjoy the evening.
4. Some alumni websites publish lists of who's coming to events, prior to the event. This encourages others to go, depending on who's already signed-up - something we could consider? Maybe publish by CH year on the CHA website before the event, and add to as tickets are sold?

Well this might flush out one or two....!

Anyway, now it's been done once I'm sure it can be done again, and there's no reason why it won't be bigger next time - word of mouth persuading more people to come, more musicians getting involved etc.

The music was fine, particularly in view of the lack of rehearsal time.

I must say that I hate 'Away in a Manger', though. I think it's a syrupy dirge, although I admit I'm probably in a minority of one on that!

How about including "Eastern Monarchs, Sages Three" ? That always raised the roof when we sang it at Horsham - the loudest singing I ever heard in Chapel.

It was a bit unclear that there was going to be a reception in the Court Room of the church after the concert. It was very pleasant, and a nice chance to chat to a few people, but I felt a bit torn between staying there a bit longer and heading off to Jamie's, particularly as quite a few people there weren't going on to the wine bar.

Re. Jamie's itself, yes, the atmosphere was fine but it is possible to have a few drinks in London without paying those prices. I can't help but think that more than a few YOBs might find it a bit of a problem.

All in all, though, an excellent evening which should definitely be repeated next year.

I hope the BSB raised a few quid, too!

I might try and come next year, always fancy a singsong.

I was in the choir at Hertford (alto) and my kids say I always sound as though I am singing in church anyway.

I think I sound like Shania Twain but that's another story.

It was very convivial - I'm sure you would enjoy it. It's just about possible to catch the last train home, too.

My last train is at about 0010 so I hope so.

I have been known to be as convivial as a newt if I am not driving.

I enjoyed it - (even if I was standing next to Julian in the choir! )

Good singing - great church as well...

As Julian says there was a great atmosphere and it was good to meet up with people I haven't seen for a few years!

However, I'll say it again on here, the prices in that bar were ridiculous - even for London (and I should know I as I now work up there)

Nice to have a cordoned off area though...

The 'Alternative' religion may have banned it by next year.

It was a concert, not a service, so no praising involved!
