I think simply that need in the case of CH is failry easy to answer... 'would the child benefit from an education at CH?' - if the answer is yes, they have need?

I know the boarding schools associaiton spent 2 days discussing this once, and they could not adequatly define need!

I think, Mr Plum, that those who have difficulty spelling "association" have a definite need to be educated at Christ's Hospital.

and if they can't get "adequately" right either ...... they should have started in the prep with Mr Pink!

Surely there should be a comma after "Need" in the forum title?

My "need" as the oldest of four children, my father didn't pay any tax and I was streets ahead at school.

I took the 11 plus and got maximum marks, studied for the entrance exam (including trigonometry) and started in 1965.

It was all downhill from there.

................... and maybe some of the capitals are superfluous ......

American Newspaper Headlines Contain Lots of Capitals Too.

Anybody know why? There must be some cultural or historical reason.
