Anyone know the route to be taken, or what is happening, and when??

St Matt's Day no longer goes from the Church of St Sephulcure (spl??) without Newgate as it's falling down or they wre charging too much money... they now go from the next church down - about 200 yeards further west... they will then march to the Guildhall about 12pm(ish) via Newgate Street -march past the Lord Mayor, scoff, and now depressingly get onto coaches rather than march back to Cannon Street and get on reserved trains...

Route and Date though???

Where does it start? Which streets does it go along? I rather fancied waving from Hoborn Viaduct as we used to March under there.

Yes it's next Friday (although my church St Matthew's celebrated its patronal festival yesterday and the actual day is on Wednesday) - the route is pretty unchanged from various years but i don't think they go under Holborn viaduct...

Yeah, heard that about St. Matthews Day - many people will not be getting the coaches anyway because I believe (like last year) that it will be the beginning of the first leave weekend. SO, as per last year, I would think that many people would be heading down to the Green Man near Bank. I will be going to the last part - not quite sure when that is because I am busy in the morning but am hoping to catch a bit of marching.....would like to see how the band is holding up with the major amount of Grecians from last year having left.

I was at the Green Man (is that the Wetherspoons pub) and got merrily drunk with a load of the Grecians who were squits when I was at CH!

The route for the march on Friday is as follows:

to the Church

New Bridge Street, Farringdon Street, Charterhouse Street and across Holborn Viaduct arriving at the Church at 1100.

To Guildhall:

Leaving the Church between 1215-1230

Holborn Viaduct, Newgate, King Edward Street, Angel, Martin's Le Grand, Chapside, King Street and into Guildhall Yard.

The Service, which is only for the School and Governors, starts at 1130 and ends approximately 45 minutes later.

Which church? There are two on Holborn Viaduct.... and a couple more in the environs....

is it the same church as last year? if yes there's a pub about 1 minute away...

There are many, many pubs in the area - some nicer than others.... If anyone is wanting food, I can highly recommend the Bung Hole on High Holborn or the Smithfield Bar and Grill (not to be confused with the Gray's Inn Bar and Grill which is a completely different sort of "establishment" and probably won't be open at lunch time anyway)

I believe it's the same as last year...

I always had my lunch in a little pub close to the Guildhall!

It's more expensive over that way... not that that should bother a man of means such as yourself.
