Housey Slang.....

Post by jtaylor »

Has any of the Housey Slang survived?

"Bokers"
"Crab, flab and muck"
House "Trades"
Hundreds more, but can't think............

I guess the "lav ends" have gone?

Old Blues:- add to the list
Pupils:- Do these still survive, or been replaced?

Was really pleased other night on dorm. t find squits still using quiz and ego, never thought it would be passed down by the next year.

"Quiz" - "Ego" - now that brings back some memories! The enthusiasm, even before finding out what was on offer.......ah, the memories. Now I'm feeling old.........

Bread, butter and jam - I think it was that way round! It was one of the dinning-hall trades, along with "Kiff" - Tea

Just a rota of who did what to tidy up, wipe the tables down, lay the tables before meals, sweep up etc. etc. You did a week of a trade, doing it less the further up the school you got.

Correction: 'goody' and 'ricky' was used by 5% of the year, most of whom were from Col A. Everyone else found it extremely homosexual.

correction: 'goody' and 'ricky' WAS used by most of the year, whether ironic or not. i don't think there were ever any connotations of homosexuality with those words. i seem to remeber them being used by both my gay and straight friends alike.

unless you were just being homophobic, but i'm sure you weren't. 8)

Correction: 'goody' and 'ricky' were used by most of YOUR year. Since then it has faced a fortunate collapse, and has now fallen into the category of 'homosexual'.

Actually, it was pretty much just the people from Col. A. Don't really remember anyone else saying it seriously (as in not to take the complete piss out of any given situation), especially not E/F pod.

Not that your abuse makes sense, but I feel strangely unoffended.

And no-one said 'no-one used them', I said 5% used them, which is an accurate figure.
