Call for DONATIONS for the CH Forum running costs...

Hi there,

I've not specifically asked for donations for the running of the Forum for a number of years.

The costs aren't huge, but the ongoing hosting, SSL certificate etc. for the forum do cost, and I donate my time (as do the other moderators) for nothing, diverting me from other paid work.

As always, all donations gratefully received - but please don't feel compelled or required to donate - it's more important to me that people benefit from the forum, and as with the ethos of CH nobody should pay any more than they can afford.

Donations can be made AS A GIFT through Paypal:
https://paypal.me/chforum
(During checkout, click on "Change", next to "Paying for an item or service", and change it to "Sending to a friend or to family")

Thank you in advance for all donations, whether big or small - it all helps with the costs.

Please add any comments/questions below.

Great that you are doing this!

I am interested in opinions and ideas about the same kind of board for other boarders, posh or not.
I think anyone who boarded ought to gets curious about their
  • ability for form relationships (lowish: aren't people alocated in some way?) or l
  • ability to avoid emotions in battle (highish: this is great for jobs like army officer or people who deal in risk)

My own boarding was at Eagle House and Wellington College 1972-1982 and of course the staff and pupils thought these were the centre of the world and that employers, exam boards, spouses would all fit-in somehow with the boarding school way of growing up, good or bad.

I'm not offering to host a forum unpaid but hope someone else is. Also, I can see that the forum host tries to make money on ads. Maybe someone knows whether they succeed in that and if so whether a different platform might pay a bit of dosh to the people who set-up the forum.

I run The CH Forum - and setup it up to benefit Old Blues, in the days before Facebook, Friends Reunited (remember that?!) etc....

As donations have been limited (apart from a few very generous people who either send monthly or annual amounts, for which a MASSIVE thank you!) I implemented the Google Ads as a way of covering costs, whilst not having to ask for donations.
This became particularly helpful when the abuse charges were brought, and the forum became even more important than it had been - and I didn't feel comfortable to ask for donations at that point.

There's no profit overall (particularly if the time involved were billable), so it would never be a money making venture...but very rewarding when you see the benefit people have gained from it.
