Housey Rock

Did anyone see the article in last week's Times Ed Sup? It can be read on the web but without the pic of the Devil-painted Simmons in the original article. It seems that rock stars are able to teach self-confidence to Blues - but what's all this about CH being a fee-paying school where students have to pay £17,000+ per annum? Someone needs to put the record straight!

no, i haven't seen it in the media but my girlfriend's on her grecians now and met/talked to Gene Simmons in the lunch queue! amazing or what? before he said goodbye to CH, he taught "god gave rock 'n roll to you" to everyone in chapel. incredible. all the good stuff goes on at CH as soon as i leave. bl**dy typical :(

Next winter I believe, channel 4, fri night. sure will find out exactly when nearer time. bit worried that they'll portray ch as a typical private school, but they haven't seemed to be with what can see from what they filmed. They didn't even let Mrs Ireland wear a tweed suit or waistcoat or something on camera, I would have thought that made good filming;typical English private school deputy head lost in American music awards, but hey, up to them, whatever they show, will just be advertisement for school, so not matter either way really.

Here's the link for anyone who missed it (like me!)

Have just sent them this in order to try to set the record straight:-
"I would like to pick up on an incomplete observation in one of your articles, which I feel you should correct?

In the article regarding Christ's Hospital (see link below) you mention that it is "a £17,900-a-year independent school in West Sussex."
Although I'm sure your number is correct, the school is funded from charitable donations and investments, primarly from former pupils of the school, who are charged when they leave to give back to the school when they can afford to. The majority of pupils do not pay full fees, and many pay almost nothing. Fees are means tested, and hence a model which other schools would envy - based on the committment and funding from their old pupils.
Please see the CH website at http://www.christs-hospital.org.uk/ and look at the Admissions section for further info.

I hope you will be able to feature the school in the future, emphasising the charitable ethos of the school.

Kind regards,

Julian Taylor
Ex. Pupil, 1985 to 1992

yeah okay, *my* housey never 'swept', except under my feet while climbing the stairs.

"He's very big on eye contact," said Mr Grindlay. "He freaks people out in concerts with the amount of staring. That's a good thing in the classroom."

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
God i wish I could be there now. How cool.

Any more news on this? Haven't seen anything in the media on it yet.

Anyone know when it's being aired?

I've heard it's being aired in May on Friday nights on Channel 4. Six half-hour episodes. Should be a good laugh!

everyone went crazy, they were like oooooh! celebrity! it was crazy... loads of juniors running around trying to get his autograph.. and most people had never heard of kiss or their music. i thought it was all a joke until we had an assembly about it.
