Yes, this sad episode is the subject of the first chapter of Christ's Hospital: The Last Years In London by C M E Seaman (ThA, BaB 20-27, Headmaster 55-70). Unfortunately I can't find my copy just now, but I remember the story is told with shrewdness and compassion.

At the risk of being admonished, we have been round this route before, although a very interesting topic.
I suggest you look at that thread and also at the earlier thread. I suggest a site search at Google which is what I used. After what has already been written I don't think there is any more to add about this sad episode . It took place a century and a half ago, under conditions very different to those now pertaining and if you require further evidence of such allegation I refer to beginning of the article contiguous with that to which you refer.
