Is there another set of exam dates for entry to C.H. Other than the November initial assessment and January residential for entry this September ?
A child at dd's school says he was sitting tests last weekend.

I'd guess you're right and that this would be for a full fee place. There's an Admissions Open Day tomorrow and I see from the school calendar that this is pitched at competitive entrants for Year 7 entry in 2012/2013 but for Direct Entry (full fees) year 7, 8 or 9 entry for 2011/2012/2013. This would suggest that like last year a percentage of places are being kept free for these prospective pupils.

Another thread elsewhere on this Forum indicates that some families who failed to get a Foundation place last year have now been invited to apply for re-assessment for Year 8 entry in September; might this apply to the child at your dd's school?

dd's friend is in year 6 at the moment, but still looking at various schools for year 7 entry. Dd was concerned that he had left it too late.

All Foundationer places for entry to Year 7 for September have now been allocated.
We will be looking at a number of children on Sat 26th March for possible entry into years 8,9 and 10 for September. There are some places available at each year group.

Thank you Howard. I think it is clear that Foundationer places for Year 7 entry this year would already have been allocated, which is presumably why Atticus was surprised to hear about a current year 6 child sitting CH assessment tests recently! Am I correct in surmising that this might indicate places are still available for Direct Entry into Year 7 this September? And are you able to clarify whether the number of Foundationer places allocated this year (and last) has been reduced in order to allow for the increased percentage of full fee paying pupils?

The school's own website currently states that 'Direct Entry applications are welcome for most year groups at any time; however, applications for the 2011 Foundationer entry are now closed'.
