I've just finished reading Anna Swan's autobiographical work "Statues without Shadows" (Hodder & Stoughton 2005) about her research into the lives of her mother and father (Michael Swan, Col A 1933-9). Numerous refs to CH, for herself at Hertford and for her father at Horsham. Couldn't find a ref using 'search' so I thought I'd mention it.

I read that last year. It's a very striking story and an excellent piece of writing. I just about remember Anna - she was a few years below me at Hertford. She was at last year's reunion at Hertford museum.

I will look up my files but have the feeling that someone did a review in the OB some years ago.
If not, anyone up for it?
I have also been told of a book out called "Operation Bluecoat", which could also do with a review if it is relevant to CH.

As this thread was looking like going seriously 'Off-Topic', I have created a new thread and moved the relevant posts referring to.................
Operation Bluecoat/ Market Garden.
I trust this is ok.

It was the lead item (two paragraphs) in the Books section of the first
Old Blue in February 2006, and a paragraph about it appeared in
The Blue Summer 2004 (p 72), but there hasn't yet been a review as such.

I've just finished the Anna Swan book, and felt totally depressed by the end. (Much the same effect on me that Anita Brookner has)
