JR is off line at the moment...

Dear all
Just to let you know that Jan e mailed me today to say that when he got to the hospital, JR found that he had to have two operations! One to his dominant hand, and one to repeat a previous operation to his elbow. Poor bloke. As Jan says, it's BOGOF (buy one, get one free...) by the NHS. But it does mean that he will have double the recovery time, so let us pray that his left (non-dominant) arm is ready and willing to lift a pint glass as soon as he gets home (which hopefully will be tomorrow). But with a dominant hand AND and the elbow needing to recover from surgery, the Bind Moggles about how he will cope for a while, without Jan's help.
Maybe Reagan (feline companion) can help. Or maybe not....
It may be a little while before our esteemed Moderator is back on form, albeit one handed....

Recovery time would be less I would have thought as the offending limb will have to be completely rested. If he had the two ops separately THAT would double the recovery time.

Jolly sore I should think but easier to type left handed than to write so I am sure he will be back soon.

I reckon he could dictate and that Mrs JR could type.
Also maybe a straw would work for the pints that are too heavy to hold!

Speedy recovery Sir!

Get well soon JR,
It may be difficult to Moderate from a relaxed position, especially if the useful hand is finding the keys on the PC difficult-- or are you so advanced, as to control us with Voice Mail ?
Take a tip from Stephen Hawking !
Seriously, you have all our good wishes, for a speedy recovery, chaos may ensue otherwise !

JR is home, but he is taking painkillers to keep the pain from his operations at bay. I've had a couple of e mails from Jan, who is clearly looking after him very well. He did manage a couple of pints the first night home (yesterday) so let's hope the recovery will be swift! Yes, it does seem quiet without him!

Just to let you know all seems to have gone well. I slept most of yesterday. Could you let them know on CH ? They did my right elbow at the same time. 2 for the price of 1 ! 3 hours in surgery !!!

Finding keyboard tiresome at the moment.

Nice to hear all is well JR. Plenty of rest and beers. The keyboard will be there when you get back to a 100%.
I miss your jokes!

fanks for your kind thoughts.

plese excuse lack of capital letters etc., it's far easier.

only one morning of severe pain on awakening on 2nd. day after the nerve block had worn off completely. strong pain-killers and a good sleep soon cured that. having a nerve-block, (electric shock aministered by insertion of needle into arm-pit) is reaaly unpleasant in itself.

managed to go and watch dorking play yesterday. loads of drinks bought for me but very cold.

back to see surgeon this thursday. just seen its trying to snow !
