For those of you who missed the Armistice Day parade at C.H. yesterday it all went extremely well. Most impressive were the children who stood silent and almost motionless from 1035 to 1115, no mean achievement at any time, let alone on an emotional occasion and a cold day with some spots of rain. At one point it appeared that the rain was going to be serious, but the Treasurer glared heavenwards, whereupon the rain stopped forthwith, the clouds dispersed and the sun shone for the remainder of the morning. The band was excellent - as always. But the high point for all the spectators came at the end when the children moved forward onto the grass as one, planted their poppies and then quietly dispersed. This planting of the poppies was certainly not practised in my time, but was very moving. The display in the Museum was also very well staged.
Well done to all involved.

You really did not want to get a school drill the following weekend though, as you would have to pick up all the poppies...

yes the planting of the poppies is somewhat of a tradition that we adhered to in our time. The next day it really was a lovely site a scattering of poppies across the quad

As parents we never get to see these occasions - would love someone to take a photo next year. There are a couple on the CH website but nothing too exciting.
