I remember going to CH when I was about 9 with Dad (before he worked there) and watching the Lord Mayor tighten up the last bolt on the sports centre...

Is that a tennis court on back ash (now a road) ?

Yup, it was a tennis court. The back avenue was a universal pitch for rugby kicking practice (usually followed intermittently by window-breaking-practice as the ball hit the houses etc.), tennis (both against the walls by the back railings, and on the marked-out courts)

Most of that back ash if full of lego houses for the housemasters of Lamb - glad they've given up with building them...

i htink on ym squits (oh no the bad word!!!) and third form we had tennis courts on back ash, but afther that no cos houseparetns needed parking.
