Yes, there was quite a bit of the Went out to a new place for lunch - excellent and, by British standards, far from expensive. Then downstairs to sample all their selections of wines (it is at a domaine). My son being with us we could not get home without checking out a few more doamines but he specified that we go to domaines which we hadn't been to before; it wasn't hard to find five.
At one domaine - Rive Blanches (you might see it is decent wine merchants) - we arrived just as an English wine taster had left so they had everything open. (Normally they won't bring out the really good stuff unless they are convinced you will buy). Wow. We got out of there with a case of one of their top ones (total 3000 bottles production and not available every year) at a snip.
Another place is the Malapere experimental station and liason headquarters - samples from most of the local AOC wines.
We have a very friendly young winemaker who is very good and the first time Richard saw her (treading down the grapes floating on top of the tank and wearing not very much!) he fell in lust. Unfortunately she sells her wines at the domaine for only 2 hours a week but we were able to get some at the experimental station.
Today, not a trace of a hangover!!!!
