I believe Leigh Hunt (once the Prep), Barnes, Coleridge and Thornton now house girls, both A and B.

Maine, Lamb, Middleton and Peele, A and B, house boys.

Mrs C, Josh or Great Apple will confirm for sure.

And Grecians E and Grecians W are mixed (though inside them the Grecians live in 'pods' - a group of rooms with washing and kitchen facilities - which are either girls or boys)

And was the senior/junior house distinction abolished when the Grecians' houses were set up?

The beginning of the 2nd form-Deps houses was Michaelmas 2000, my year got to be oldest juniors but then had to be youngest seniors!

I think they should call the Grecians' houses better names...

I think this was mentioned when we were talking about house names and Kerren put forward the proposal that Grecians East be named for an ex-head master as Grecians West id named after an ex- head mistress.

It wasn't me, Mary but I remember the discussion. And it's an accident of geographical orientation that one of the Grecians' residences could be thought to have been named after a former Headmistress at Hertford.....(ho ho!)

It sounded like the sort of irony you might think of Kerren but the way Munch has been going recently perhaps it was she.

I'm sure that if we were to wade back through the various threads on this Forum we would find out who it was and what they said, but............!

Me? But I've mellowed into a tranquil tolerant person! I forgive all my foes! (Well, all but three of them. No! three more semi-foes too.... Everybody else then.)

There is a certain splendour in naming a House "Grecians West" which contains mixed pods. :snakeman:

Love from Munch

Ermm... OK Mary. But what is the subject of your erudite observation? To what does 'quod' refer......? There could be a number of responses.....
