Old Blue hero in the news

We received a message from an Old Blue about the recent heroics of Old Blue Guy Vesey, currently working in Australia.

An Old Blue emerged a hero at a tragic accident in Sydney Harbour in March of this year, when a ferry smashed into and sank a pleasure cruiser beneath Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Guy Vesey (PeB 1994 - 2001) jumped from the Mosman ferry into the harbour to help the victims of the ferry collision.
According to eyewitness reports, he jumped in and out of the harbour… retrieving bodies and limbs, and was “in the thick of it”.
Mr Vesey, 23, said that it was “instinct” that drove him to dive in.
“I could see the bow of a small vessel pointing up out of the water. A number of bodies, some conscious some unconscious, were in the water. There was quite a lot of blood. It was smashed up quite badly – bits of deck everywhere.”
Guy, who is due to return to England next month, said that he heard “Lots of cries for help… a lot of panic”, but he realised “I could be of more use in the water.” He is an experience yachtsman and swimmer, and said that at that stage he did not know that three people had died and that a 14 year old girl was missing.

After all the misery in the news of how people mistreat each other, it's wonderful to hear of Guy's selflessness. It rather restores faith in human nature.

What a fantastic selfless act - great to hear of such bravery - not sure if I'd have the courage (or the ability) to do the same.

Found this reference to it too:-

Looks like he was indirectly nicely rewarded for it too....

Seconded. But then who knows what you'd/I'd do if faced with this situation :?

Guy Vesey (PeB 1994 - 2001)
Just one little thing...he wasn't in Pe B. (not in his later years at least, maybe his 2nd form to LE)
