Using abbreviations online

Ruthie-baby is a bit of a greenhorn online and many people use abbreviations she doesn't understand. I have answered a couple of them on another thread but thought a new thread was warranted (just living up to my reputation you inderstand).

EA I get confused just keeping up with the volume of posts without adding abbreviations to the equation. Thank you for the link though, I am sure it will prove very helpful

Fiona does of course win the day... but abbreviations (as long as it's not txt spk!) can be useful online, imho...

I find I don't understand all the acronyms. Sometimes it is fairly obvious but if you are feeling a bit slow on the uptake.....

I must admit i do find it hard to refrain from writing in text speak when emailing and posting. I have to check all emails at work as i have an awful habit of wirting bout instead of about!

i may be 2 but i'm not 1 or 3

i've been around for ages (excuse the exact turn of phrase!)

but I've just never got a handle on the lingo

i can cope with BTW and some basic text short forms

things like 'nite' make my skin crawl though
