Leavers' Bibles

So when did the school switch from KJV to NRSV bibles for the leavers?

That's outrageous. The KJV is the only one with the real words. I wonder who made that decision?

In our era, you got both if you waited to leave at the end of your Grecian's year.

bizarre really - you had to have a bible to go to school (it was on the kit list) - and yet you got given one when you left. It's like when a friend of mine became ordained and they gave her a bible... it's not as if she didn't have one or several of those already...

JDS used to say that he looked for two things in an Old Blue's house - a picture of them in uniform and their leaver's bible.

To be sure, in older old blue's houses, I have noticed these items have been clearly displayed. and er.. <cough> they're on display in my study, gathering dust; along with my Queen's Scout certificate. Does that mean I'm old too?

Sad really.
