the new adaptaion of Jane Eyre last night on BBC1. Im curious for you opinions?

I love Jane Eyre it is one of the best romance novels ever! My two problems with it so far are

1) the adaptation is a bit wussy and wet, it doesnt have much of the darkness the book has which in my mind makes it a great novel and sotry. I feel like it has been softened and made slightly weak.

2) Although the actor playing Rochester is almost 40 he looks far too young and pretty handsome to be ROchester, he is meant to be a troubled man of the world with a brooding attraction not an obvious pretty face! The first adaptation i saw of it as a child had a much better Rochester played by the divine Ciaren Hinds also in Persuasion (another classic)

Thats my opinion i would like to here yours? ta x

Sadly we decided not towatch it beacuse my wife Ann took one look and said "oh god no, not another adaptation of Jane Ayre. It sounds as if we didn't miss much though.

by sport!
I seem to remember a version with Timothy Dalton as Rochester, his wooden acting would have suited the character of Rochester perhaps?

TDs acting is so damn wooden he should have played an Ent in LOTR
