Tis' a shame if it be true.

I think the video footage is pretty conclusive.

As to if it's a pity or nor not................

Well, throwing bottles and stones at soldiers in Belfast never produced a friendly response, as I recall.

Saw the footage on the Beeb yesterday -
violence has always generated reciprocal violence
and we do not know what these 3 adolescents had been up to when they were caught - context is everything
Most shocking ? The commentary from the camera-man - disgraceful, and more suited to a playground egging-on than a member of HM Forces.

The commentary definitely had an 'American' twang to it, though I agree with your sentiments about the playground.

Haven't followed the story too closely.

Just wondering how this sort of footage, presumably shot by one of 'our lads', gets into the hands of the press. However it happened, the transaction might have involved a few quid changing hands.........

Apparently, the video has done the rounds of various regimental messes during the end of last year, so its hardly surprising the press have got hold of it.

Slightly off topic but related to the Iraq War.

I watched a play on the box called The Government Inspector last night about the late Dr David Kelly and the events leading up to his death.

It seems he was hung out to dry in order to try and save the reputation of certain people in and around government.

Has anybody else seen it? I gather it was a repeat.

I'd imagine that was exactly the case with Dr Kelly...I'm sure the high-ups do what they deem as 'necessary' when they need to save themselves.

Unfortunately I didn't see it...

According to 'Andy McNab', these 3 were the ringleaders of a group of about 200 who had been throwing incendiary devices onto the roof of the barracks, but that bit had been cut off the beginning.

I don't agree with the deployment of the troops, but they are beginning to be treated like the GIs were when they came back from Vietnam.

I see our esteemed Government is going to institute a 'Veterans Day'.

One assumes this will be re-named:

"Veterans Day, as long as you haven't been a naughty boy and hit someone day !"
