I am having trouble with the lack of a cigarette after a meal but it hasn't been anywhere near as bad as yesterday

I had a blazing row with my teenage daughter tonight. I got so bad it was a case of punch someone's lights out or have a cigarette. I went for the cigarette. When I calmed down.....about 2 hours later. I realised that I hated the damned things, there was no enjoyment for me anymore. So I start again tomorrow knowing that I am over the worst. The damn things are revolting! After 30 years on the weed, I honestly never thought I would say they are revolting. Wow that is a real revelation for me, it is almost spiritual in its intensity. I think I am going to make it now.

Keep the positive thoughts coming folks, they are working.

Thanks

Sean :D

Sorry to cause all that confusion....

I hadn't been drinking - altho I did later on...

BTW where is Shanghai and do they have pubs there?

It's a little fishing village in China, and apparently they do (or bars, anyway).
I like that image - even if its a little far from the truth....yes there are pubs - there's a Flying Fox and a British Bulldog and hundreds of bars and clubs - and the forum says its 1 in the morning whereas itrs actually 8 in the morning and a beautiful sunny day. On the way to work I saw a woman giving a tree a very erotic massage with her finger tips. It still surprises me sometimes.......

Nothing untoward - I asked the driver and he said - "exercise....."

They do a lot of tree hitting / stroking / leaning / hanging from ...in their various morning exercise routines - it's just that this morning the woman was being extra sensual with one particular tree - I'm sure I saw its leaves perking up a bit......

ok. thanks. I'm getting a picture of the place. Is it a country or a city or what? And what country is in?

You lot are barking mad - it's a huge city (pop 17 mio or more) on the east coast of China. And yes - you're all welcome.

You're getting there Sean, next time (if there is a next time) you won't reach for the cigarette.

I was recently sent one of those Internet thingies on Stress Management, it amounted to imagining yourself in a very secret place beside clear water, listen to the birds and the water. The water is so clear that you can see the face of the person you are holding under water - you should be smiling by now!!

I doubt if I'll be back before Friday, I am about to go to collect a VIP from Bangor Station and entertain her for the rest of the day, including a ride on the Ffestiniog Railway and a buffet dinner. Tomorrow we have 170+ for lunch in Llandudno - which I am chairing. I have used that stress management a couple of times already this week!!

I hope that when I next return I'll hear good vibes from you about non-smoking.

Sean, get a little punching bag or cushion for when teenage daughter plays up.

I have one like that. she had a bamboo cane for something and she wound me up so tight I broke it acroos my knee, when she asked why I told her it was the cane or her neck.

She also went off on one last night. After work I had taken one son to evening class (10 miles each way) collected another from a friend's (3 miles each way) taken daughter to drama class (4 1/2 miles each way) collected first son from evening class (10 miles each way again, he was supposed to ask the lecturer who lives round the corner if he could car share but had got sidetracked by a beautiful Moroccan girl who is teaching him Arabic!!!) went to pick up daughter from drama (4 1/2 miles each way) and because her brothers were in the car she refused to get in and took off marching up the road. I kerb-crawled after her for about 1/2 mile but it was getting dangerous so I drove off (first son and I had not eaten and it was after 10 o'clock by now). Dropped sons at home and returned for daughter (3 miles each way,she is a fast walker) she got in the car with no comment.

What is murder of a daughter called?
