"Urrgh, can't the council do something about it?"......(everything's always the council's fault).
Well, I suppose the council could ban farming or control the direction of the wind.

Sometimes theres an "interesting" smell around CH, particularly in a morning - not sure if it`s the drains or not.................
It's the sewage works on the A24...
I have heard of haylage - don't know what it smells like though

Palimpsest
1. A manuscript, usually of papyrus or parchment, on which more than one text has been written with the earlier writing incompletely erased and still visible.
2. An object or place whose older layers or aspects are apparent beneath its surface.
(The origin of my search was a reference to a brass grave plate dewscribed as palimpsest
also,
OED. monumental brass turned and engraved on the reverse side.

Today's word is......
amaretto
•
noun [mass noun] a brown almond-flavoured liqueur produced in Italy.
— origin Italian, diminutive of amaro ‘bitter’ (with reference to bitter almonds).
Is that really the best they can come up with?

They seem obsessed with random foreign words.
How about some obscure English ones to expand our vocabulary?
Perhaps I should e-mail them, although the words are probably selected by computer.

Maybe you don't know you've imploded into a prune and only someone else can tell you.

Surely you would shrivel to become a prune, rather than implode....
