I have, of course, omly recently (Since 1986 ! -- see "New" Day pupils !) encountered the Jabots, and I confess I thought them to be very attractive and, for once, a nice addittion to the Uniform, for Girls. :)

clearly not if you are wearing it under your chin, itchy-itchy (very Tudor though)

Try putting a large "safety" in in one side oof your Adam's Apple (equivalent) and out the other side to hold your bands straight and in place. Itchy is one thing - playing with safety pins is downright dangerous (and painful, until you learn how to deal with it)
As for getting rubbed at the side - the amount of starch they used meant red lines around the neck. Very Tudor though like the executioner's axe

And oh --- the ridicule engendered by splayed Bands !! (Not to mention endless punishments of "Loops" :oops: )

Actually, I saw some passing by at the 60+ Re-union !!

I thought that now they were "Buttoned" this didn't happen ?
