I take it from your second to last post on this thread that the CHA Board admit to 'monitoring' this site ?
Obviously, I don't have a problem with that as long as they do realise that this IS an UNOFFICIAL forum !

Various members of staff (of varying seniority) are aware that I use this forum and indeed are in the habit of reading it themselves from time to time. I have never had any negative comments from them or attempt to dissuade me using it. I do feel the need to be careful of revealing too much about my "real" identity mainly to be able to protect our family's privacy. I see that as common sense in using the internet.
I do not see that a dedicated forum provided by the school has any impact on this or vice versa - it's horses for courses and no doubt each will have it's own character. Many parents have felt the need for a form of communication between themselves and whilst this is a good one for some of us, relatively few parents use it.
As for censorship - most forums have moderators (including this one) and most forums will, in extremis, delete extreme or offensive posts (including this one) - so they all have a level of "censorship".
I do feel that the school is damned if it does and damned if it doesn't in some quarters.

It's very much a question of how censorship is carried out; on here we actually see statements from the moderators that they have removed specified posts and the specific reasons why. IF those moderating the official forum are as open in stating what they are doing and are phlegmatic about well intentioned criticism then that is all to the good but if they want to impose an Iron Curtain type of censorship ......
As an aside I do note the recent absence here of some of the traditional staff posters; I hope that it does not have negative overtones.

yOu mean who moderates the moderators?
If I so much as correct a typo (you know who you are the gentleman in Luxembourg) JR is on to me to ask what I have done.

As far as I'm concerned, censorship on this site involves abusive attacks on person or persons. Extreme obsenity etc. etc.
Banter is banter, and always makes for a 'fun' forum.
Regarding Mary's last post, we moderators have the ability to see which moderators have edited/deleted posts, or even banned a 'member', (poster).
We don't necessarily know the reason why an edit has been made, and so we can check each others actions for what reason. It's not a case of picking on an individual poster.
I trust this make the matter clearer.

moderation on this forum is as limited as we can get away with.
Out aim is to foster good relationship between Old Blues, and others intersted in CH.
So if we feel it's doing severe damage to individuals, and as such a bit out-of-order, then we moderate.
Otherwise we just let the debate continue - it's unofficial for a reason!

p.s. banning spammers and editing typos is all I have ever done.

The CHA only "monitor" in so far as I run it really. David Eastburn and John Hopgood are also board members and use the forum, but there's no conscious monitoring. It's certainly understood as being unofficial and independent, and is viewed pretty positively these days as another way to "friend raise" (fostering relationships between Old Blues and others associated with CH.)

Hey -- what is a "Jogger-Dep" doing on this Topic ???
