well we had deps 'music appreciation' with the head master - Mr Poulton. I remember he played us that Tallis thing which has 40 parts. none of us had heard it before and he asked us to guess how many parts there were.
I've sung in it twice, conducted it once - great fun. But you do need a minimum of 40 experienced singers.

I really really want to sing it and never had the opportunity. We were going to do it at CH but Mr Allwood said we needed 5 conductors and we could only find 4. That may have been an excuse, he probably thought we weren't good enough singers. Which considering we were used to having about 15 people per part, may have been right!

Spem in alium. I remembered the name! If anyone knows of it happening in London, I'd love to take part...

Ok, add your name to the conducting list below if you would be willing to conduct:

if you don't see the list it's because there are no names on it yet.

BTW I don't think you really do need five conductors, I'm sure one'll do fine

you're dead right. one is enough! 5 only confuses things - with experienced singers it is really not necessary. try and do it when I am up sometime. I will gladly sing (or conduct!) - perhaps even both is possible.

because actually you have 5 eight-part chpoirs singing often at the same time.
