I just happened to remember Mrs Slocombe being late for work as her cat had got stuck outside the window...

No pigs here and no apple sauce either... Apple crumble maybe.

I really miss apple crumble and custard.....
there's one pub that does quite good english food - but some things are just never the same - and we can't make it because nothing tastes the same (dairy products are all a bit weird here...)

Okay Rory, you got me really interested now................
Why are dairy products weird there? The possiblities for answer are almost limitless I suppose but I had to ask

No - it's nothing rude - just that milk doesn't taste like milk - you get used to it - then go back to England and have proper milk - then come back and have to learn to drink theirs all over again - eggs here tend to be strange colours inside - some are tea flavoured (brown inside) some are soy soaked (again brown) some are thousand year old eggs - - at least they are called that - and they taste like it - dark green in colour and not very nice - and as for butter - I was in a restaurant and wanted some butter with my bread roll so tried to explain in chinese that i wanted that yellow stuff that you make from cows milk that foreigners like to put on bread - I got a plate with some dodgy yellow oil in it - no good at all............

Some of the eggs we had for breakfast at Hertford must have been lurking about the school since the foundation.

No cheese? Now that just isn't right. A good cheese platter is one of life's joys

Not if you are intolerant it's not, and about 70% of people of Asian origin are.

I'm not intolerant, but just wanted a change - I dropeed wheet a few years back and my health seemed to improve - however, going to friends was hard as I had to take my own bread etc with me! I want to loos a bit of weight gently through diet and gentle excersise - so I felt soya would be a decent way to go for a bit. i actually like it -and the cats don't! ha ha!!!
