Things may have changed but a few years ago this is how things were for new deps:
You'll attend the classes for your chosen subjects, it's nothing too intense but it'll give you a clear idea what you've signed up for and if you wish to change at all you'll be able to.
No the Grecians won't have left they'll be enjoying the freedom of being at CH with very little to do (I watched Wimbledon mostly)
Don't worry you'll fit, often there are a few free beds kncoking around and if not matresses can go on the floor in someones study (thats how it worked for our newcomers), sure its a bit crowded but I doubt you'll be spending too much time in your study as there's far to much to be doing.
As for what to bring I can't really help you there, I'd say make sure you bring your usual school equipment as well as civvies, games kit and your usual bathroom supplies, maybe take a few DVDs perhaps you could organise a movie night or something (this just seems like a nice idea to me, I love a good movie night). Hopefully a list of the essentials will be sent out to you.

Civvies are essentially your own clothes - short for civilian clothing.

I'm wracking my brains here, and the word 'sock' vaguely comes to mind - possibly in the plural. Gosh, all sorts of weird and rathr sweaty associations are zinging around now - boots and wellies...

Strangely enough I don't ever remember wearing sandals or 'flip-flops' when I lived in the UK. Funny how life changes!

Of course, today is the most exciting flagless (i.e. not OBD, Open Day etc.) day of the year, as we get flooded with new people. I've seen Idgie and Hannah - both seem well. Not run into John yet...

Wednesday was only a regular but was still the most significant of the regulars...plus there were a bunch of governors there so they should have had the SBTS marchpast.
