Your crime is here for all to see
Tim of Maine A then Mid B
Each post you make upon this thread
In dactyls you must lightly tread.

So here at once atone your sin
By writing poetry, young Tim.

And thus you do it once again!
It causes us such frightful pain
When one, who educated so
Shall fail to make his writing go,
Upon this thread, in couplets true.
So Tim I plead with you anew
Please write upon this thread in verse
Or brave my wrath and Helen's curse!

Well I'm here to try and see,
As rythmical as I can be,
But when I went to the uni,
I was doing an engineering course and they didnt encourage that kind of thing!

You're starting to rant and to rave
I'm not quite as polite as
Dear Hunter-Titus
But nor yet as rude
As Rick Ruck or Jude!

Well tried sir! As all will agree
You may have an M Eng degree,
But you really are smart
When you write from the heart
Your verses for all here to see.

Though the site that you mention is cool,
You have broken the manifest rule
To write here in verse
(Whether good, blank, or worse)
I'm afraid you've been rather a fool.

For now you must punishéd be
As all who have erred will agree
For we who've transgressed
In the past have confessed
By rhyming our apologee.

PS You are allowed to write prose footnotes etc.
In following Dave by the Sea,
trying to be a lit'rary
writer of some note
('cept without a boat),
I find myself just plain "mummy".

By writing in prose in the past,
I see my erratum at last.
No more will it be,
nor blank poetry.
In the metric pond do I cast

my rod with some bait for a rhyme,
like all anglers, biding their time.
A few weeks? It's no sin.
So hand me my gin,
I'll review these few verses. Sublime!

My first time this is, I confess.
My stanzas, I feel, are a mess
of differing themes
but I hope that it seems
to make sense. Nothing more, nothing less.

It may be some time before more
rhyming ditties from my brain do pour.
So please do not goad
me for a-nother ode.
My muse has collapsed on the floor.

Dear Cath, your poem's a charm,
Now don't go and do yourself harm.
Just sit on the sofa
Use a child for a gofer
And drink some more gin as a balm.

(cj inspired me to make my first post on this thread, something I have heretofore assiduously avoided in case it is habit-forming.)

Bravo! Darling Cath! and Bravo!
Your verses accomplished here flow
With such art and good grace,
Thus enriching this space
Where only our poems can go.

On exams:

Each Summer comes the exam season,
But some cannot see the reason.
Too late in the year,
They think "No! Oh dear",
And yell at teachers "This is treason!"

But afterwards comes study leave,
It's point, I cannot perceive,
The words of my dear,
Housemaster this year,
"If you've nothing to do then leave."

But why would one depart the school,
When life here is so good a tool?
Facilities wide,
From West to East Side,
Or simply a dip in the pool.

Our school, it is true, is unique
in teaching, for one, ancient Greek.
But a dip in the pool
seems delightfully cool -
not a paddleless trip up that creek.

Where is the limerick's salvation?
What happened to that dedication
When at least once a night
A would be poet would write
A few words of inspiration????

They've fallen like leaves to the ground;
Trampled, never more to be found...
And yet... I do feel
that with patience and zeal
Once again like rabbits they'll abound.

You're right brother Rory it's lacking
This thread of late has not been yacking
But with your advice
To post something nice
You at least got me starting quacking

That terrible photo is what?
It could be Count Dracula or not
It looks like a bleeding
Old Uncle Rod pleading
For mercy when he has been shot

You may think I'm not doing my whack -
But I'm staying at Housey, so lack
The facility to
Write verses toyou
But I'll try and improve when I'm back.

We met in a room yesterday
(The Advisory Board - CHA)
But were left in the dark
'bout where we should park
With Brangwyn event on same day.
