The people who would know - but I don't know how often they are around these days - would be Canteen Cath, Vonny, and Maria Vatanen. I seem to recall them all saying they preferred Horsham. One obvious difference (apart from the size) is that the Hertford school was in the town, a short walk from the centre. Although juniors weren't allowed to go shopping, seniors could go in various combinations and frequencies depending on age and seniority. Whereas Horsham is in the middle of the countryside and not adjacent to any shops. I'm sure there were other, more important factors though!
Pretty easy to get a Horsham pass and hop on the train though...

Actually in the 80's it was quite hard due to the timing of the trains - if you were in Leigh Hunt and had to go back to house and queue for pocket money and to get chit signed - then you have no chance of getting a train until nearly 3pm and as you had to be back by lighting up time that rather curtailed visits by train (buses were just as bad) so we usually walked (hoping for a lift) or cycled which was fun in the rain

Jo was the year below me. In Sixes with me at Hertford so probably in BaB with me at Housey - sorry - the old memory fails me at the moment!
Yes Jo was in my year BUT she wasn't with us in BaB Maria!

She was in Col but not sure if A or B.

Yes, Frances. Don't let anyone's blunt opinion put you off. On a forum like this we are going to have an enormous range of experiences and ideas. And although you are always interesting and perfectly tolerent and respectful of others rights to voice their feelings, I agree it is sad when others' life experiences seem to have warped their own ability to do so.

Here I am, Andy! and thank you for those thoughts and prayers. Surgery was successful. I'm now on a course of chemotherapy, 4 sessions at roughly 3-weekly intervals. One down, 3 to go!
Good to see you back!

Annie, good to hear from you again too, and glad things are going well. Long may it continue
