Do you receive "Housey!" regularly?

Anything that doesn't fit anywhere else, but that's still CH related.

Why does the forum get more interesting when I go to make the dinner?
On second thoughts don't answer that one.

That reminds me - I have a wife and dog who are both getting peckish. Time to cook, I think.

Or do people just want to foster the idea that CH is one big clique??
I will try to sythesise/crystalise , if I may : it's not a question of who can/cannot join the forum, it's more a gut feeling, an instictive hackle-rise when in the presence of something which just does not gel, no matter how many time the "good intentions" are reiterated. Heaven knows that CH teaches us tolerance and a total rejection of all forms of -phobias rampant in today's world - but that does not mean we are blinkered, and if there is one thing that 7 years at CH also give us, it is a fully-functional BS-meter.

I welcome interest in my school, and am conscious that I "take with me wherever I go the good name of Christ's Hospital" but I will not pander to obsessive Walter Mittys, as to do so only intensifies and exacerbates their fixations.

And no, I do not intend to apologise for my opinion on this matter.

And nor should you have to.

I fully understand - but, (as an "outsider" even though I and my family live , work, and study within the ring fence), I feel that so many of these threads are not making very pleasant reading. No-one is being forced to pander to obsessive Walter Mittys. One could remain silent as I have done on several occasions when I could have made a comment . I thought the idea behind the forum was to share experiences and information about CH , not to be asking people why they want to know these things - surely that`s where PMs come in ?
I want to read about experiences and life at CH over the years, not this sort of thing.

And at that point I think I`ll retire for the evening! :)

Sorry - just had to be said.

(but then I`m not an Old Blue so my opinion is irrelevant!! :) )
Or even a MASS DEB.......

The beginning of term is difficult for everybody even remotely connected with children or schools. The Eastburn household is a microcosm of the tensions evident on this thread, what with Judith back to teaching at Truro School, Jonathan off to Housey and me getting in a blather trying to keep everybody calm. Only Oliver sails through it all with equanimity - he has spent most of his Christmas holiday doing cross country training at his school, so I suppose nothing has changed for him really.

I am going to make a (late) New Year's Resoloution!

I will try to be more understanding with everybody who gets in a stress about anything. I will try and be even more understanding as they get even more worked up about things, particularly if the supposed or actual cause of the problem is me!

That's pineapple (upside-down pudding). Used to get it at school, and it wasn't all that great!

Nothing beats Miss Jukes' pineapple pudding....
( although chocolate sponge with hot chocolate sauce is a close runner-up)

The Americans ( bless their little cotton socks) have scientificallyproved that chocolate prevents heart disease .... and there goes one of my NY resolutions...

Resolutions, once made cannot be unmade. It is the keeping of them or otherwise that causes most of us some difficulty. Personally, I think it is not the keeping of them that is so important - rather the attempting to keep them ...... however often one may fall down along the way. lol
