Update on Scouts in the Woods:

There will be a campfire in Shelley Wood on the evening of Old Blues Day (the Saturday). There the Patrols will treat you to the typical array of slightly bizzare sketches, interspersed by group songs and cool things like that. The Scouts will be leaving at 10ish as they have the St. George's Day Parade the next day; however, some Explorers will sleep over in the wood and I am guessing OBs are welcome to do the same.

More details to follow, as soon as I know more!

As an Ex-" Groupie " SM I would love to join you, I even have, still, my hat with the white "Shaving Brush" in it !

However - I fear that now sporting the OLD AGE badge, I am precluded from Sleeping Out !

Not a problem - you'll still be welcome among us loonies :D !

Also, more info (from Facebook):

This year, Old Blues' Day is being held on a Saturday, and much earlier in the year. The Scouts will thus be holding their campfire on the Saturday, after the events of OBD Proper.

The Scouts will treat you to the traditionally bizarre and occasionally surreal range of sketches, interspersed by songs and other things. The event will also feature a 5-year-on rededication, if that is the right word, of the Scout Totem Pole in the central clearing.

The event will start at half past 6 with the lighting of the BBQs. Old Blues are welcome bring food and use our BBQs to cook it. For the sake of those wishing to attend the Schola Cantorum concert, the campfire itself will be lit at half past seven or eight to give you time to get out of that and change your shoes.

If you want to perform a song, please drop me an email and I'll put you on the running order!

And anyone who has a suitable instrument, please bring!

Fiddles are very welcome in the wood, as long as they don't play in tune and bring their own instruments!

As for fiddles I immediately thought of the marine version - make of that what you will (or won't)
